Cookie Notice
Version 1.7 · Effective date: 15 July 2026
This Cookie Notice explains the cookies and similar local-storage technologies ReadNTag uses. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
Strictly-necessary cookies
- Session cookie. A single signed session cookie keeps you logged in after you sign in. The Service does not work without it. This cookie is set only after you authenticate, and it does not require consent.
- Local storage (your browser). We store your interface preferences (theme, font size, reader layout, saved searches, and the dismissed state of notices) in your browser. This stays on your device and is not sent to our servers.
- Browser extension storage. If you install the extension, it stores your backend URL and access token on your device only (see the Privacy Policy).
Analytics cookies (consent-based)
With your consent, we use PostHog, a product-analytics provider, to understand how the Service is used so that we can improve it. When you choose Accept all in our consent dialog, PostHog stores a small analytics cookie (and related local-storage entries) that records usage events such as pages viewed and features used. PostHog data is processed on PostHog's US host (us.posthog.com). PostHog is listed as a sub-processor in our Privacy Policy.
These analytics cookies are optional and are separate from the first-party usage analytics we run on our own servers (no third-party cookie is set for that). The first-party analytics, and its opt-out, are described in our Privacy Policy.
We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site advertising tracking.
Managing and withdrawing consent
Optional analytics is off by default. The analytics cookie is set only after you choose Accept all in our consent dialog; choosing Necessary only keeps the Service fully usable with no analytics. To change your choice later, open Cookie preferences from the footer, or go to Settings → Privacy & cookies. The same place lets you opt out of our first-party usage analytics.
